I Write with Love

My love of horror goes deep and being Black and Mexican and queer, seeing characters who look like me or who have similar backgrounds to mine was always a challenge. It was a struggle and journey to find authors and filmmakers and media in general that I could connect with on an identity level. And for me reading books and stories, watching films, and experiencing art and music has always been about finding a connection on multiple levels not just emotion, but identity, experience, and culture.

So I CHOOSE to write fiction that is diverse, multicultural, multiracial, multi-ethnic, Queer, gender fluid, and complex. I want to share my horror stories, fantasy tales, Sci-Fi dreams, and wild, mysterious adventures with the world especially those fans like myself who search high and low, far and wide, for media that connects with their identity and culture.

Check out some of my diverse horror below:

Day 12: Burnt Chilli

A short horror story that I wrote when I was in college. I hope you enjoy! πŸ™‚

365 Days of Creativity

Loretta’s teeth smashed against each other as she aggressively scribbled down onto her notepad. The disgusting man in the blue plaid shirt licked his lips as he spat out his order. Every time he walked into the diner Loretta’s brown skin felt as if it were going to jump off of her and run away into the mountains surrounding the middle of nowhere diner. The man’s eyes penetrated her outfit as she tried to suppress visions of herself stabbing him in the neck with her pen.

β€œIs that all?” She swallowed, praying for the chance to get away from the man’s repulsive gaze.

β€œYea, for now,” he winked.

Loretta almost screamed as she gripped her pen tighter and forced out a smile, β€œGreat.”

Loretta let out a sigh of relief as she walked into the kitchen to find Paul stirring a big pot of chili. Paul was short and skinny…

Day 14: Turn the Lights On

Another short horror story I wrote in college.

365 Days of Creativity

Day6-Yo mamma so ugly she went into a haunted house and came out with a job application.

-Yeah well. Your momma so ugly her reflection said; β€˜I quit!’

-Yo momma so stupid they told her it was chili outside she went and got a bowl.

Jamina had to cover her mouth to keep from spitting out her wine as Lane and Kyle went back and forth in her dorm room trying to outdo the other with β€˜Yo Momma’ jokes. Jamina sat on her bed watching her friends joke around and drink wine while she pretended to work on her take-home final for Calculus. It was almost two in the morning and Jamina could no longer lie to herself about her progress and decided to just sit back and chill for the next hour. Campus was more than half empty and the only two people left on her floor other than…

Day 10: Dinner w/ the Joneses

An older horror story I wrote a couple of years ago.

365 Days of Creativity

Dominic almost had to remind himself to exhale as he followed Rick up the driveway of the gigantic two-story house. Dominic had never been inside of such a big house. He was accustomed to the old busted apartment complexes in Chicago and the trailer park of his great aunt in Texas. The suburbs were all too new to him. That was surprising even in the 1950’s especially since most of the US population was trading up and moving into suburban communities to fulfill the American dream of bigger and better. Rick pushed open the front door and called out to his parents. Dominic followed behind, admiring the beautiful architecture of the entrance way. The heat from the house gently caressed his brown face as he watched Rick move throughout the house calling out to his parents. Rick was tall with brown messy hair and blue eyes, everyone at school adored…
